Terms & Conditions of Use

Last updated: August 12, 2026 (08/12/2026) · Version 1.0

These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of Veterinary AI. Please read them carefully before using the service, which is intended exclusively for persons aged 18 or over.

1.Introduction and nature of the service

1.1. Description of the Service: Veterinary AI is a technology platform that uses artificial intelligence to provide information, guidance, and resources relating to pet health, animal welfare, and pet care education. We offer automated conversation services, educational resources, and self-assessment tools based on general veterinary information, intended for an adult audience.

1.2. Nature of the Service — Virtual Pet Health Assistant: Veterinary AI acts exclusively as a virtual pet health guidance assistant supported by artificial intelligence technology. Its purpose is informational, educational, and to provide general guidance. The responses, suggestions, and recommendations provided are intended to complement and enrich the user's knowledge about pet care, but under no circumstances are they intended to, nor can they, replace the professional judgment of a veterinarian, veterinary nurse, or any other duly qualified and licensed animal health professional.

1.3. Not a Professional Veterinary Service: Veterinary AI does NOT constitute veterinary practice, professional veterinary services, or clinical diagnosis. We do not provide diagnoses, treatments, prescriptions, or specific veterinary advice. Any information provided must be regarded as general guidance of an educational nature and not as personalized professional advice or treatment.

1.4. Artificial Intelligence Technology: Our services are based on artificial intelligence algorithms that process information and provide automated responses. Although we use advanced technology and extensive databases, users must understand that this is an automated system with the limitations inherent to this technology, and that at no point are they interacting with a veterinary professional.

2.What Veterinary AI is not and does not do

Express statement of limitations: In order to ensure a clear and unambiguous understanding of the scope of the service, it is expressly stated that Veterinary AI does NOT constitute, perform, or have the ability to perform any of the following activities:

Veterinary AI is NOT…Explanation
Clinical diagnosisThe system does not assess, diagnose, or determine the presence of any illness, infection, injury, or medical condition in an animal. No response from the platform constitutes a veterinary diagnosis.
Veterinary treatmentNo therapeutic intervention of any kind is performed. Conversations have no clinical value and are not equivalent to a veterinary consultation or any other form of professional treatment.
PrescriptionThe platform does not prescribe, recommend, or adjust medications, dosages, supplements, or pharmacological treatments of any kind, including antiparasitics, antibiotics, or pain relief.
Clinical risk assessmentThe system does not perform assessments of life-threatening risk, poisoning severity, or any other clinical risk. In an emergency, the user must contact a veterinary professional immediately.
Veterinary relationshipNo veterinarian-client-patient relationship (VCPR) is established between the user and the platform or between the user and any professional. Interaction with the AI system creates no clinical rights or obligations.
Emergency serviceVeterinary AI is not a crisis or emergency service. It must not be used in the event of a veterinary emergency or a situation involving risk to an animal's life.
Official report or certificateConversations and responses generated by the system have no validity as a veterinary report, health certificate, expert assessment, travel documentation, or official document of any kind.

2.1. Name of the service: For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions and any official communication, Veterinary AI is defined as a virtual pet health guidance assistant powered by artificial intelligence. The platform's commercial name is used for identification purposes only and does not imply the provision of regulated professional veterinary services.

5.Important limitations and safety recommendations

5.1. Emergencies

In the event of a veterinary emergency, suspected poisoning, serious injury, or any situation requiring immediate attention, the user must contact a professional right away and NOT continue using this platform:

  • Your nearest emergency veterinary clinic or your regular veterinarian.
  • ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (US): (888) 426-4435
  • Pet Poison Helpline (US & Canada): (855) 764-7661
  • If you are outside these regions, contact your local emergency veterinary service or animal poison control line.

5.2. Express Recommendation to Consult a Professional: Users are strongly advised to consult a duly qualified and licensed veterinarian regarding any important decision relating to their pet's health, treatments, medication, diet, or significant changes in care. Veterinary AI may suggest when it is appropriate to seek professional help, but the ultimate responsibility for seeking such help rests solely with the user.

5.3. Technical Limitations of Artificial Intelligence: Artificial intelligence systems have inherent limitations, including but not limited to:

  • Limited understanding of complex clinical and behavioral contexts.
  • Inability to physically examine the animal or detect non-verbal signs.
  • Lack of clinical intuition and practical experience.
  • Reliance on prior data patterns.
  • Possible misinterpretation of specific situations.
  • Inability to establish a genuine veterinary relationship.
  • Responses may not reflect the most recent scientific or veterinary standards, and may vary by species, breed, and region.

5.4. Situations Requiring Immediate Professional Attention: Users must seek professional help or contact an emergency veterinary service without delay if their pet shows, among others:

  • Difficulty breathing, choking, or persistent coughing.
  • Collapse, loss of consciousness, seizures, or sudden disorientation.
  • Suspected ingestion of a toxic substance, medication, or foreign object.
  • Heavy bleeding or a wound that will not stop bleeding.
  • Repeated vomiting or diarrhea, especially with blood.
  • Inability to urinate or defecate, or straining without result.
  • A swollen, hard, or distended abdomen (possible bloat / GDV).
  • Signs of severe pain, trembling, or crying out when touched.
  • Heatstroke, severe hypothermia, or trauma from a fall or accident.
  • Complications during pregnancy or labor.
  • Refusal to eat or drink for a prolonged period, or rapid worsening of any symptom.

Cases that permit a technical audit:

  • Serious technical failures of the platform affecting the integrity, security, or proper operation of the service.
  • Security incidents or data breaches requiring review in order to contain the damage and inform those affected.

  • The information accessed will be treated with a reinforced duty of secrecy and may not be used for any purpose other than resolving the incident.

6.4. Processing of data for service improvement: Should Veterinary AI use conversation data in anonymized and aggregated form to improve its models or the service, users will be informed and their express and unambiguous consent will be obtained in advance, in accordance with Article 6 of the GDPR. Users will have the right to withdraw such consent at any time, without this affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before its withdrawal.

6.5. Deletion of conversation history: Users have the right to request the deletion of their conversation history at any time, without prejudice to any minimum retention period required by legal obligation. Requests may be made from their account settings or by contacting support@veterinaryai.ai.

7.Responsible use and user obligations

7.3. Specific Prohibitions: It is expressly prohibited to use the service to:

  • Obtain diagnostic or treatment information for animals belonging to third parties without their consent.

  • Attempt to access restricted areas of the system or circumvent security measures.
  • Use the service in an automated or bulk manner via bots or similar systems.

7.4. Critical Evaluation: Users acknowledge the importance of critically evaluating all information received and undertake to verify such information with additional sources and with a veterinary professional where appropriate.

7.5. Responsibility for Decision-Making: Users acknowledge that they are solely responsible for the decisions they make based on the information provided by Veterinary AI.

8.Privacy and data protection

8.1. Applicable Legislation: The processing of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, in full compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016 (GDPR) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 of December 5 on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD).

8.2. Data Controller: The controller of users' personal data is the owner of the Veterinary AI platform, whose full identifying details appear in the Website's Legal Notice. For any matter relating to data processing, please contact support@veterinaryai.ai.

8.3. Pet Health Information: Conversations held on this platform mainly contain information about the health of the user's pet. Data relating to animals is not, in itself, personal data under the GDPR; however, since it is linked to the user's account, Veterinary AI treats it with the same confidentiality and security safeguards as personal data, and does not share it with insurers, employers, or any unauthorized third party.

8.4. Processor — Anthropic, PBC: To provide the artificial intelligence conversation service, Veterinary AI uses the API of Anthropic, PBC (Claude model). Under Article 28 of the GDPR, Anthropic acts as the processor of the data that users enter into conversations, while Veterinary AI acts as the controller. The relationship with Anthropic is governed by its Data Processing Addendum (DPA), which includes the Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission as the mechanism for international data transfers (modules 2 and 3). Anthropic undertakes to process data exclusively in accordance with the controller's instructions and not to use it to train its models unless expressly authorized.

8.5. International Data Transfers: Anthropic, PBC is headquartered in San Francisco, California (USA). The processing of conversations may involve an international transfer of data outside the European Economic Area. This transfer is carried out under the Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the European Commission (Implementing Decision 2021/914), included in Anthropic's current DPA. Anthropic has infrastructure in multiple geographic regions to improve service reliability.

8.6. Sub-processors: Veterinary AI informs users that the following main providers act as sub-processors in the provision of the service:

ProviderFunctionLocationGDPR safeguards

Users accept that Veterinary AI may use sub-processors to provide the service, provided that they are subject to equivalent data protection obligations. In the event of material changes to the list of sub-processors, users will be informed sufficiently in advance.

8.7. Data Retention by Anthropic: In accordance with Anthropic's policy for API customers, conversation inputs and outputs are deleted from Anthropic's servers within a maximum of 30 days of receipt or generation, unless a legal or technical exception applies (for example, if the conversation is flagged by abuse detection systems, in which case retention may be extended to up to 2 years). Anthropic does not use API data to train its AI models by default.

8.8. Data Retention by Veterinary AI: Account data (username, email address) is retained for the duration of the contractual relationship and, once terminated, for the periods legally required. Conversation history stored on the platform is retained while the user keeps their account active, unless early deletion is requested. Billing data is retained for the period required by applicable tax legislation (minimum 5 years).

8.9. Restriction of Use for Minors: The service is intended exclusively for persons aged 18 or over with the legal capacity to enter into contracts. Persons under 18 may not register or use the service under any circumstances. Upon registration, users expressly declare that they are 18 years of age or older. Should Veterinary AI become aware that a user is a minor, it will immediately cancel their account and delete their data.

8.10. Automated Decisions: The service generates responses through automated processing of the information provided by the user. Under Article 22 of the GDPR, users have the right not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal effects or significantly affect them. In the context of this service, the assistant's responses are purely informational and do not constitute binding decisions. Users retain full autonomy over their own decisions at all times. If a user wishes to request human review of any interaction, they may do so by contacting support@veterinaryai.ai.

8.11. User Rights: Users may exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure ("right to be forgotten"), restriction of processing, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent at any time, and may lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es). To exercise any of these rights, users must write to support@veterinaryai.ai indicating the right they wish to exercise and attaching a copy of their identity document.
